About

Yggdrasil is an Ásatrú based re-creational community of connected Halls or kindreds dedicated to exploring, practicing and promoting the pre-Christian religion of the Nordic/Germanic peoples, who include the English, Norse, Icelanders, Swedes and Germans, among others. We do this in several different ways including the re-creation of a historically accurate vision of pre-Christian Viking Age society.
Yggdrasil Ásatrú Community is located in Rhode Island (USA) and was founded by a few friends looking for a way to practice their religion and learn about the ways and history of the Nordic/Germanic peoples. The goal of the Yggdrasil Community goal is to build an Ásatrú based community within Rhode Island that both worships and socializes together.
Although the primary function of Yggdrasil is as a religious organization we also incorporate education and re-creation into our community. Yggdrasil education programs help to enrich our lives and understanding of the lives of our ancestors as well as bring us closer to the Gods and Goddesses. Our education programs encompass a wide range of topics from the religious to historic. We engage in the crafts and skills of the Nordic/Germanic peoples, learning how they lived, worked, and worshiped.
In an effort to bring ourselves closer to the Gods and Goddesses we have chosen to re-create the ways of the Nordic/Germanic peoples. As part of this re-creation we dress in the traditional garb of Nordic/Germanic peoples at our social gatherings. Our community structure is based on the social ranking orders found in the historic Nordic/Germanic civilizations. In this internal social order all members have their rights, privileges, and responsibilities. Once again this form of  re-creation helps to bring us closer to our ancestors and the Gods.
Membership is through a mentoring program. All new members must be invited by an existing member or accepted into the mentoring program. If you are interested in seeing a mentor or would like more information please feel free to send us an E-MAIL.
Disclaimer: We are not a racist group. We are NOT a neo-Nazi organization. We do NOT proclaim superiority of ideologies or identities. We are a group of like minded people who are proud of our heritage, our ancestry, and are interested in the re-incorporation of the values and spirituality of pre-Christian Northern Europe into our daily lives.
